Finding yin

At this time of year with the frenzy of preparing for Christmas, yang can dominate in our lives and we can easily come out of balance. Adding yin yoga to your practice will help you to find your calm centre again. A yin practice with holding postures for a few minutes will bring stillness and equanimity to the body and mind through the breath. The body will feel freer and more flexible, and the mind will be calmed. A yin practice will calm the vata dosha which is predominant at this time of year when we consider the ayurvedic approach to health. We are in the last weeks of the dark, yin phase of the solar cycle and yin yoga honours this phase of the cycle, our inner sun mirroring the outer sun. Enjoy your yin practice as we look to completing this cycle before birthing the light again this coming solstice.
