At this time of year, it naturally feels for some of us that we want to feel more grounded and focus on drawing in our energy. The inner sun of our microcosm is mirroring nature with the seasons led by our outer sun and the solar cycle. Lately I've been feeling that I want to work with more hip openers to help me settle in seated meditation and quiet the mind. We are entering the yin time of year now. Nurturing ourselves with warm, nourishing foods will help and is good at calming us and our vata dosha that predominates at this time of the year. The meaning of doshas can be explained by ayurveda if you are interested in learning more about seasonal influences. Ayurveda, the traditional system for health in India and the sister science of yoga is good to refer to in finding out what foods are beneficial to keep us healthy. Eating seasonally and listening to what the body is telling you it needs will guide. Tune into what your 'inner guru' is telling you to what your body needs at this time. Meditation will help you to trust that you are your best teacher.
